Job Overview
Genpact is currently seeking an experienced Senior Principal Consultant – Data Engineering Manager to lead their data engineering efforts. This role involves leading teams, managing large-scale data-related projects, and driving innovation in data engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership
- Lead cross-functional teams (MS SQL developers, ETL specialists, Data Analysts, Integration teams) to foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Mentor and coach team members, ensuring they achieve project goals and deliverables.
- Encourage continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.
2. Project Management
- Oversee project timelines, monitor progress, and mitigate risks to ensure timely delivery.
- Analyze data and support metrics, reporting to leadership and identifying areas of improvement.
- Implement quality assurance practices and ensure adherence to project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall.
- Prepare presentations and reports for governance reviews like WSR and Mid PI.
3. Technical Expertise
- Leverage strong knowledge of data engineering (MS SQL, SSIS, SSRS, BI Reporting, T-SQL) for success.
- Guide team members in applying best practices for data modeling, ETL, and data warehousing.
- Stay updated on advancements in data engineering to provide innovative solutions.
- Manage incident handling for data platform issues and work to enhance operational efficiency.
4. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope and objectives.
- Ensure clear communication regarding project status, risks, and any dependencies.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring smooth project execution and resolving conflicts promptly.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience leading complex data-related projects in large enterprises.
- Leadership experience in managing data engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, pipelines, and data modeling.
- Proficiency in SQL/PLSQL, DBT, Snowflake, and cloud platforms.
- Experience with visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Cognos.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
Preferred Skills:
- Expertise in managing enterprise-scale data projects.
- Experience with cloud platforms and data visualization tools.
- Solid understanding of IT operations and best practices in data engineering.
