BOP: BOP Hosts National Recruitment Day Nationwide – Federal Bureau of Prisons

Saturday, November 5, 2022
(BOP) – On Saturday, November 5, 2022, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) will host “National Recruitment Day,” from 9:00 A.M. to 2 P.M. local time. This nationwide initiative will take place at all BOP institutions for potential applicants to learn why more than 35,000 employees choose to work for the Agency. This is an opportunity for potential applicants to meet staff in person, obtain resume assistance and ask questions on the day-to-day operations of the agency. The BOP is embarking on this initiative to highlight a broad range of exciting opportunities that positively impact the lives of those in our care.
The BOP encompasses over 120 institutions across the four corners of the United States, including Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Each location requires a community of providers engaged in a multitude of occupations ranging from Correctional Officers, Cook Supervisors, Medical Officers, Nurses, Mental Health Professionals, and much more!
Applicants should bring their resume, two forms of identification, and education transcripts if applicable. Veterans are also encouraged to attend and should bring a resume, Member 4 copy of their DD214 and/or SF-15 application for 10-point preference and VA rating decision letter, if applicable. In most cases, Federal regulations require BOP employees to be under 37 years old when hired; however, exceptions are made for certain hard-to-fill positions and for preference eligible veterans. U.S. citizenship is also required. All candidates are subject to a drug urinalysis, physical examination, background investigation and, if hired, must successfully complete the three-week course, “Introduction to Correctional Techniques.”
